Taking advantage of the winter darkness, 1,300 runners, most outfitted with lights, raced through Copenhagen as part of the city's three-week-long Light Festival. The seven-kilometre route through the Danish capital took participants past an array of stunning light artworks scattered throughout the city.

Vanessa Vega Saenz, Runner said Yeah. You know, Copenhagen, Denmark — it's very dark during the winter. So when you reach February, you're just dying to see some light. And then to have a three-week-long festival with lights and light artworks, and then a run like this one where everybody is completely lightened up — it's a very good idea."

As the runners traversed the glowing streets, the city's dark winter nights were transformed into a vibrant celebration of light, offering both a literal and symbolic escape from the seasonal gloom.
