With eight months to go until the end of his term of office, Emmanuel Macron sets out a roadmap to improve “accessibility” for people with disabilities by 2030.
The plan pushes for fully accessible internet websites, the rollout of accessible payment terminals, and the widespread integration of voice-controlled remote controls for audio traffic/pedestrian signals. The strategy addresses the needs of France's estimated 5.7 million to 18.2 million citizens of aged five and older who live with varying degrees of functional limitations or heavy pathologies.
In his closing speech at the national conference on disability, Macron emphasized his commitment to keeping disability issues at the forefront "until the final quarter-hour" of his mandate, aiming to make it a central theme in the political landscape. A dedicated monitoring and implementation committee was structured to oversee these projects.
