Cargo ship fire in Samsun Port, Turkiye

A fire erupted in the engine room of a dry cargo ship anchored at Samsun Port in northern Turkiye on Tuesday.

Upon receiving the alert, fire brigade, police, health, and AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency) teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.

All 33 crew members were safely evacuated from the ship. Firefighting operations are currently ongoing with both land-based units and firefighting tugboats responding to incident and security measures have been implemented in the surrounding area as emergency response continues.
