Iraq reaffirms UN cooperation on missing Kuwaitis

Iraqi President Nizar Amedi has reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to cooperating with the United Nations and relevant parties to resolve the outstanding file of missing Kuwaitis and determine the fate of those still unaccounted for.

President Amedi received Mari Yamashita, Representative of the UN Secretary-General, at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad on Sunday. According to a statement by the Iraqi Presidency, the meeting focused on cooperation and coordination between Iraq and the United Nations and ways to strengthen their partnership in line with Iraq’s international obligations.

The two sides also discussed developments in the file of missing Kuwaitis and the work of the technical committee tasked with searching for remains and determining the fate of the individuals concerned.
