Port Campbell Community Improves Beach Access for Tourists with Disabilities

The community of Port Campbell, located on Victoria's southwest coast, worked to improve beach accessibility for people with disabilities. The initiative began with an accessibility day hosted by the local surf lifesaving club in 2024, which led to the donation of accessible matting, beach wheelchairs and walking frames.

Local businesses adapted their services to accommodate tourists with mobility needs. This effort followed the realization that making accommodations inclusive could attract a wider range of visitors, including those with disabilities. The changes provided more opportunities for people with mobility challenges to enjoy the beach and surrounding area.
