Kenya's William Ruto announced an "extraordinary East Africa Community Summit within the next 48 hours" to discuss the crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo, after Kinshasa accused Rwanda of sending fresh troops across the border on Sunday to capture Goma.

Ruto, who calls for "an immediate and unconditional cessation of hostilities", told a press conference that both Rwanda's Paul Kagame and DRC's Felix Tshisekedi will take part in the summit. Ruto thanked DRCongo and Rwanda for agreeing to attend the summit.
