The ceremony marked the 20th anniversary of the Tanintharyi Nature Reserve Project and the opening ceremony of the research paper reading session was held at the Ingyin Hall of Forest Department in Naypyidaw on January 7. The event was attended by the Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, U Khin Maung Yi, Deputy Minister U Min Thu, permanent secretary, senior officials, representatives from relevant departments, experts, research paper authors, and local residents from the project area.

The Union Minister first mentioned that the Tanintharyi Nature Reserve is classified as a protected area under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The Tanintharyi Nature Reserve not only serves as a habitat for wild animals but also plays a vital role in conserving biodiversity and improving the livelihoods of local communities. He emphasized that the project must continue to be maintained for long-term sustainability.

The Union Minister further awarded commemorative gifts and honors to the Tanintharyi Nature Reserve Project.

Next, Dr. Thaung Naing Oo, Director-General of the Forest Department, presented the past, present, and future plans of the Tanintharyi Nature Reserve Project. Following this, a 20thanniversary documentary video of the project was shown, and the audience was entertained by tribute songs and performances.
