Fiji Deputy PM Addresses Resort Incident

Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka has acknowledged the seriousness of the incident at a luxury resort on the Coral Coast, where seven guests experienced symptoms including nausea, vomiting, and neurological issues after consuming pina coladas. Gavoka confirmed that doctors have since discharged five of the patients who were hospitalized and he assured the public that no further cases have been reported.

Viliame Gavoka, Fiji Deputy Prime Minister said "Our health team has conducted initial investigations, and we're continuing to investigate the cause of these incidents. Further testing and research are underway by the Ministry of Health and the Fiji Police Force."

The Deputy Prime Minister also praised the bartender, noting his 16 years of experience and "caring attitude." Authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
