Botswana President Duma Boko attended the burial of Pitseng Gaoberekwe, a respected San elder, in his ancestral village of Metsiamanong in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR).

Gaoberekwe, who passed away in 2021, became the center of a legal battle over his right to be buried in the CKGR, a land of great cultural significance to the San people. After nearly three years of disputes, the Botswana government finally granted his wish in December 2024, resolving a long-standing struggle for ancestral rights.
