G7 wins 'Fossil of the Day' award at COP29

An international environmental group has given the Group of Seven nations a satirical "Fossil of the Day" award. The Climate Action Network is presenting them every day during the COP29 conference in Azerbaijan.

It says the winners "have done their 'best' to block progress in the negotiations.  "The Climate Action Network comprises about 2,000 NGOs. It named the G7 as Friday's winner, saying the group's members are "running away from their fiscal responsibility to pay up for their growing climate finance debt."

The Climate Action Network also said the G7 countries have failed to fulfill their responsibilities to provide funds for developing nations, a key agenda at the COP29 talks.
