The Federation council voted on Wednesday to vote in favor of ratifying a treaty of Partnership between Russia and North Korea. “Special attention is paid to protecting the sovereignty and ensuring the security of their countries.
The Treaty provides for the possibility of mutual military and other assistance in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter if one of the parties is subjected to an armed attack and thus finds itself in a state of war. It should be emphasized that the treaty is peaceful in nature and is not directed against the interests of any third country”, Russian Senator Vladimir Dzhabarov said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed the treaty, which includes a mutual defense clause, during Putin’s visit to Pyongyang in June.
