Spain Floods Search and Damages

In Chiva, one of the worst-affected towns of the flooding in Valencia, the search for survivors is underway. Rescue workers are searching for missing people in washed-away cars, and in the town center, residents are trying to clear rubble. This town experienced its heaviest rainfall on October 29, to the west of Valencia.

Over 40 centimeters of rain fell in a few hours, and the ground was unable to absorb such a volume. The water poured down from the hills into this town of 16,000 inhabitants, then towards Valencia and the sea, claiming more than 200 victims, according to the latest provisional toll.
