



Myanmar and China held a bilateral meeting at the State Administration Council Chairman’s office in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.
The Myanmar delegation was led by Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, while the Chinese side was headed by Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.
The meeting highlighted the long-standing and friendly relations between Myanmar and China, which are set to mark their 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025. Myanmar expressed its stance as a friendly and trusted country for China, upholding the peaceful situation in line with the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence.
The discussion focused on the State Administration Council's efforts to maintain stability and development in Myanmar in accordance with the constitution, the country’s role within ASEAN, and the implementation of the ASEAN Charter.
The meeting also covered preparations for holding a free and fair multiparty general election, plans for a Population and Housing Census to ensure the accuracy of the voter list, the freedom of political parties to participate in accordance with the Political Registration Law, and the promotion of economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Chinese side expressed support for Myanmar’s stability and development, valuing Myanmar’s stance on the One China Policy. They also highlighted China's stance regarding Myanmar in the international arena, pledging support for the census collection process and the election.
The meeting noted that Myanmar will not accept any actions that could harm China's interests, emphasizing the importance of peace, stability, development, and security for China. China pledged to provide assistance in the trade, agriculture, and livestock sectors, with further support for economic progress.
Additionally, China expressed support for unity and harmony among ASEAN member states and for Myanmar’s role as an ASEAN member state. They highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral friendship and cooperation through discussions and reaffirmed China's role as a friendly country to Myanmar.
