Vice President U Nyo Saw attended the 2026 World Population Day ceremony at the Myanmar International Convention Center-1 in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday, alongside Vice President Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, Hluttaw Speakers, Union-level officials, diplomats, UN representatives and invited guests.

In his speech, the Vice President said the annual event provides an opportunity to review population trends, policies and practices to support the country's development strategies. He stressed that accurate population data, surveys and statistical systems are essential for evidence-based policymaking, investment planning, improved public services and local development.

He also added that demographic change presents both challenges and opportunities, calling on government agencies, development partners, experts, civil society organizations and the public to work together to build a just, inclusive and rights-based socio-economic society.

The ceremony continued with a report on demographic change presented by Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing, followed by the screening of a commemorative animation video clip.

The Vice President and party later toured exhibition booths marking World Population Day.
