Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced Tuesday it offered $10,000 in compensation to passengers with minor injuries from a turbulent flight last month, with higher payouts for those more severely hurt.

A 73-year-old British man died, and several others on flight SQ321 from London suffered serious injuries, including skull, brain, and spine damage. The Boeing 777-300ER, carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew, was diverted to Bangkok, where the injured were hospitalized.

SIA stated that those with serious injuries needing long-term care would receive an advance payment of $25,000 as part of their final compensation. As of Tuesday, 11 passengers were still in Bangkok hospitals.
