Narendra Modi takes oath as India’s Prime Minister for third time

Narendra Modi took oath as India’s Prime Minister for a third historic time, on Sunday. The swearing-in ceremony brought together the leaders of several regional countries, including Bangladesh and the Maldives.

This is Modi’s third consecutive term as PM. The National Democratic Alliance led by his Bharatiya Janata Party won the recently-held General Elections. The 543 seats of the lower house were contested in the election. Voters gave 293, or more than a majority, to the coalition spearheaded by Modi's Party.
