A team of drone pilots has been testing a heavy-lift drone on the world’s highest Mount Everest, with plans to use the Chinese-made drones at high altitude to help move supplies and waste up and down the mountain’s slopes.

The comprehensive test, at the South Base Camp at an altitude of 5,300 meters, lasted a week. The tests confirmed the ability of the drone, built by leading Chinese drone maker, to hover, fly unloaded and carry loads at such high altitudes.

The test team set records for the highest civilian heavy-lift drone flight at 6,191.8 meters and for round trip transport at an altitude of 6,000 meters with a load of 15 kilograms.
