The government continues repair work on the stretch of Hai Tan Street in Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong affected by land subsidence.

On 2nd May, the fast lane on the affected section has reopened to traffic. The government said one of the likely reasons leading to the road collapse was the recent rain stormth at accelerated soil erosion in the area.

The Transport Department said some road sections nearby have reopened, but the area between Yen Chow Street and Kweil in Street remains closed to traffic. The section affected by subsidence was about 8 meters by 12 meters in size with a depth of around 4 meters. The Buildings Department said it sent officers to inspect nearby premises and there are no obvious structural risks to buildings in the vicinity.
