
The Japan Meteorological Agency said an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 has hit Ishikawa Prefecture. There is no threat of tsunami. The quake struck at around 6:31 a.m.
on Monday, with its focus estimated to be 10 kilometers deep.The cities of Wajima and Suzu registered tremors with an intensity of upper 5 on Japan's scale of zero to seven.
The quake also sent tremors with an intensity of lower 5 to Noto town, and of 4 to Nanao city, Anamizu town and some municipalities in Niigata Prefecture. East Japan Railway said Hokuriku Shinkansen and JoetsuShinkansen bullet train services were temporarily suspended due to a power outage. Both services resumed at 6:50 a.m on Monday.
