China and five Central Asian nations established a landmark cooperation mechanism to bolster regional preparedness for emergencies, during a ministerial meeting held on Thursday in Urumqi of China. The cooperation mechanism sees China joining forces with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

This initiative establishes joint exercises, information sharing, and coordinated disaster relief, aimed at fortifying the region’s ability to respond to emergencies. The China-Central Asia emergency management cooperation mechanism represents a significant step and a new platform for deepening mutually-beneficial cooperation among the six countries.
