Japan's Princess Kako departs for Greece to mark 125-years of ties

Japan's Princess Kako has departed on a trip to Greece to mark 125 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries on Saturday. This is her third official overseas trip. The two nations proclaimed 2024 the "Year of Culture and Tourism between Japan and Greece."

Next month will also mark the 125th anniversary of establishing bilateral relations. Kako will attend a commemoration ceremony and welcome luncheon in Athens, Greece. She will also pay a courtesy call on the President of Greece. She will return to Japan on 1st June.
