Xi Jinping calls for greater efforts to promote, protect Great Wall

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for efforts to inform more people about the Great Wall and engage them in the protection of their ancestors' precious heritage for future generations.

Xi made the remarks in a reply letter sent on Tuesday to villagers living at the foot of the Badaling Great Wall in a northern suburb of Beijing. Historically, the Great Wall of China was built to fortify China’s northern border. The Great Wall has been the site of multiple battles and skirmishes between the Chinese and various people across history.
