Hundreds Evacuated Onboard Kakap-811 Naval Ship

Authorities in Indonesia has deployed the Kakap-881 Naval Ship to transport evacuees of the mount Ruang eruption in Sitaro district to the Bitung city, after the volcano agency raised the status of mount Ruang to the top level.

The ship left on Wednesday, carrying 330 evacuees, including 25 people who suffered from minor illnesses, and five from severe conditions. The bitung city administration has provided a team of health personnel to serve those in need of medical treatment.

The displaced residents have met with their relatives in Manado and Bitung. Some evacuees will also stay in temporary shelters provided by the local government. Logistics and other assistance have been continuously distributed to the evacuees.
