Chinese FM meets former Japanese PM

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday met with former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda in Beijing. Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that the important consensus reached by the two heads of state by the end of last year provided important political guidance for the development of bilateral relations between China and Japan.

For his part, Fukuda, who also once served as the chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia, said the Japanese side is willing to increase mutual understanding with the Chinese side, and jointly promote a strategic relationship of mutual benefit between the two countries.
