At least fifty people were injured after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck along the mountainous China-Kyrgyzstan border on Tuesday, according to the authorities. Local authorities dispatched a team to the quake's epicenter while some 800 people were on standby for any large disaster relief mission.
Strong tremors caused two houses to collapse and downed two major power lines near the epicenter, though electricity was quickly restored, according to Xinhua. Nearly 200 rescue workers have been dispatched to the quake zone, and hundreds more are being assembled, and a child was rescued from the rubble of their house.
