Japan PM meets Brunei's Sultan and Singapore PM ahead of Japan-ASEAN summit

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida met with Brunei's Sultan HassanalBolkiah and Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong ahead of a Tokyo summit between Japan and ASEAN nations focused on strengthening economic ties.

According to the draft statement, Japan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations will commit to "strengthen security cooperation, including maritime security cooperation". With Malaysia, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that he had agreed with counterpart Anwar Ibrahim to deepen strategic ties and provide 2.8 million USD for "warning and surveillance" equipment.
