St. Petersburg Int’l Economic Forum: Dy PM attends SPIEF'23 and related events in Russia

A Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein together with Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Kan Zaw and Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han and Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar Daw Than Than Swe are attending the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum-SPIEF’23 from 14th to 17th June.

On the 1st day session of the Forum, they met the officials from FESCO Transportation and Logistics of the Russian Federation,and discussed cooperation between the two countries through the Vladivostok port.

The delegation met with the advisor to the Russian President and Vice Chairman of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the Roscongress Investment Fund and officials.

During their meeting, they discussed cooperation on construction of petroleum mill, solar power plant and pulping line factory, purchaing of petrol, trading and to improve investment between the two countries, tourism, agriculture, metal, industry, electricity and power sectors, culture and education industries between the two countries.

They also met with Minister of the Macroeconomics and Integration of the Economic Commission for Europe and Asia and discussed the matters on trading, cooperation on economic and investment development and implementation of the EAU's regional economic cooperation among Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member countries.

The delegation also attended the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Myanmar and the Eurasian Economic Commission-EEC.

The Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and EEC Minister for Development of Integration and Macroeconomics signed and exchanged the memorandum.

After that, the Myanmar delegation attended the EAEU-ASEAN Business Dialogue, and the Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations discussed the opportunities and objectives of business cooperation between the EAEU and ASEAN, infrastructure development projects, issues related to digital transformation and investment opportunities in Myanmar.

The Myanmar delegation also met with Minister of Economic Development Mr. Maxim Reshetnikov and friendly exchanged views on matters of economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and Myanmar and the prioritized sectors for further cooperation, the developments of the 3rd Session of the Intergovernmental Russia-Myanmar Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and organization of the 4th commission meeting at the end of 2023.

The delegation visited Center Inform JSC in the Governor's Lounge of the forum and discussed the information service industry, information security tasks, business opportunities and procedures and products import.
