The opening ceremony of the “Second Legal Dialogue among Advocates,” organized by the Bar Council, was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

Union Minister for Legal Affairs, Union Attorney General and Chairperson of the Bar Council Dr. Thida Oo delivered the opening remarks. She explained that the legal dialogue was organized to enhance advocates’ legal knowledge, professional skills, ethical standards, duties, and rights, as well as to promote the rule of law and access to justice.

The first legal dialogue was held for five days in October 2025 and that the current event was the second edition. The programme is jointly organized by the Bar Council and the Legal Advocacy Center under the Ministry of Legal Affairs. During the dialogue, experienced senior advocates will discuss topics including courtroom practice, evidence law, the qualities of a good lawyer, professional ethics, the role of advocates in civil and criminal proceedings, and reporting suspicious transactions related to corruption.
