Sea-crossing Tunnel

The transportation of the last immersed tube of the 6,845-meter-long subsea tunnel of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor, or the E23 tube in the project, started on Thursday, with the overall tunneling work expected to finish in four days.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor, consisting of the tunnel section and a bridge section, is expected to complete construction by November and open to traffic in 2024. When completed, the project will cut the commuting time between the cities of Shenzhen and Zhongshan in southern China from two hours to just 30 minutes.
