Damaged carriages still lie beside the tracks and debris litters the area. Search and rescue operations for victims and survivors came to an end the day after the accident.
The collision, which has now been blamed on a signaling error, led to the deaths of at least 288 people and injured a further 900. It is India's deadliest rail incident in 20 years.
