China's C919 aircraft completes inaugural commercial flight

China's first domestically made large passenger jet, the C919, completed its inaugural commercial flight on Sunday.

It received a grand "water gate" welcome after landing, the highest level of welcome celebration in civil aviation.

Flight MU9191, operated by China Eastern Airlines, took off from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport at 10:32 a.m. with more than 130 passengers on board and landed at Beijing Capital International Airport at 12:31 p.m.

The single-aisle, twin-engined aircraft has 164 seats in a two-class cabin configuration consisting of business and economy seats.
