Opening ceremony: Exhibition booths and fun fair opened in Yangon

As the commemoration of 76th Anniversary Union Day, the opening ceremony of exhibition booths of State and regions and display booths of traditional foods and local products of national races was held at the People’s square in Yangon in the morning on February 10.

Yangon Region Chief minister U Soe Thein, Commander of Yangon Command Major General Nyunt Win Swe, region ministers and exhibition in-charges of Union Ministries, Regions and States including Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw, rectors of the Universities, departmental officials, and district and township administrators attended the ceremony.

Chief Minister, Commander, exhibition in-charges of Union Ministries, Regions and States including Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw opened the ceremony by cutting the ceremonial ribbon. Next, Yangon Region Chief minister and officials gave the commemorative gift to exhibition in-charges.

As the commemoration of the opening ceremony, ethnic people and students from the National Arts and Culture University (Yangon), University of the Development of the National Races of the Union and Nationalities Youth Resources Development Degree Collage, Yangon, Thinkagyun, Yankin, Hlegu Education Degree Colleges performed together with the song “A song for unity” Near the water Fountain in the People Park, in commemorating the 76th Union Day,  as the second part of opening ceremony, regional MSME products exhibitions of  regions and states, 29 industrial zones in Yangon and the  sale festival was opened by the chairman of the Yangon City Development Committee-YCDC Yangon Mayor U Bo Htay  and Economic Affairs Minister of Yangon Region and Industrial zones chairmen by cutting the ribbon. 

And then, ethnic people performed with the song “Htarwara Thitsar”. After that, Yangon region chief minister, ministers of states and regions and in-charges of the ministries’ booths greeted the performers and inspected around the exhibitions.

The 76th Union Day commemorative exhibition booths, traditional foods of national races, will be displayed for five days from 10th to 14th February from 9 AM to 10.30 PM. At this event, 25 booths of the ministries, 15 booths of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Regions and States, and 15 booths of traditional ethnic foods and local products were included with the accompaniment of entertainment programmes.

The festival will be celebrated with fireworks and releasing of balloons and everyone is invited to explore the exhibitions and taste the traditional foods, it’s learnt.
