Development Works: Village Development Projects and resettlement of IDPs

Chief Minister of Kachin State U Khet Htein Nan met with members of township and village project supervisory committees in MoeMauk on 2nd February.

The Chief Minister urged the rural people to strive for economic development of the state by boosting production. Officials reported on the implementation of the projects, funded by the State Economic Promotion Fund.

In MoeMauk, 5 villages have been chosen to carry out agriculture works, one village for livestock breeding work, 2 villages for cooperative works, one village for fish breeding and other entrepreneurs for MSME businesses with the alloted budget of 390 million kyats.

The Chief Minister provided veterinary vaccines and medicines for the farmers and 1 million kyats cash assistance for the departmental personnel. The Chief Minister and party later visited the integrated farm in AungMyay Village, and inspected breeding of pig and fish and production of foodstuff for pig.

The Chief Minister coordinated for the increase of loan disbursement and providing technical assistance, and also presented cash assistance for the Township Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department. The Chief Minister and party proceeded to Si In new village for resettlement of over 200 households from 5 IDP camps in Bamaw Township.

In meeting with the families of the households, the Chief Minister explained the plans to fulfill the necessary assistance including the vocational education step by step. He also coordinated assistance for paving concrete road, digging artisan wells, power supply and land ownership. The Chief Minister later provided 1.5 million kyats and 50 bags of rice for the families from 5 IDP camps.
