Rabies Vaccination Program: Program underway in Tatkon Township area

The Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department is implementing the rabies vaccination program in Tatkon Township of Ottara District starting from 2023.

To implement the global aim “Elimination of Dog-Mediated Human Rabies Deaths by 2030”, the Department has been conducting a free anti-rabies vaccination campaign for stray dogs and pet dogs starting from January 30.

Staff Officer, Livestock Breeding & Veterinary Dept., Dr. Kaung Soe San said "To implement the aim of Elimination of Dog-Mediated Human Rabies Deaths by 2030, we are conducting a free anti-rabies vaccination campaign. All dogs from 176 villages, 49 village-tracts and 6 wards will be vaccinated against rabies. The targeted number is about 40,000. Rabies can cause death, so prevention is better. Cats are also included in this free of charge program which will take at least one month."

So far, 230 dogs have been vaccinated against rabies under the program in Tatkon Township area.
