Agriculture Sector: Union Minister makes inspection, meets with farmers

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Hla Moe inspected the Ma Dam spillway dam and construction of irrigation system in Lewei Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council area on Tuesday and heard reports.

Currently, the dam and the current irrigation system can contribute to 2,000 acres of farmlands. Upon completion, the irrigation system will contribute to 6,000 acres of acres of farmlands. The Union Minister also met with farmers, growers and locals at the briefing hall near ShwePyi Aye Village.

There, the Union Minister stressed that in Nay Pyi Taw Council area, priority is being given to the development of agriculture and breeding activities and the development of the manufacturing of finished products based on agricultural products. His ministry is making efforts to improve crop production. He also urged the attendees to establish a cooperative enterprise.

In order to increase crop yield, just like changing modern farming methods, the management of agricultural production should be changed according to the modern system so that the socio-economic lives of farmers will change significantly. The Union Minister also coordinated with concerned officials to fulfill requirements in the area.
