Myanmar Disaster Response Training: Department of Disaster Management organizes training

Myanmar Disaster Response Training No.4 implemented by the Department of Disaster Management of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement was opened in Nay Pyi Taw through online and offline systems on Monday. At the event, Union Minister Dr. Thet Thet Khine said that this is the 2nd training for Kachin State and the 4th for MDRT.
The training intends to develop human resource for natural disaster management in Kachin State and to engage with Myanmar Disaster Response Team if the natural disasters happen in the state. According to the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER), the ASEAN-Emergency Response and Assessment Team- ASEAN-ERAT was formed in 2010 to effectively carry out disaster response measures in ASEAN region. There are 22 people who have attended the ASEAN-ERAT course in Myanmar.
The Myanmar Disaster Response Team Training Course was opened for once time and the MDRT courses 1,2,3 were opened in Nay Pyi Taw. 102 trainees from the civil society organizations and the government departments who are taking part in the natural disaster management tasks in Rakhine and Kachin States could be trained to jointly carry out the tasks.
Later, the Executive Director of AHA Center Mr. Lee Yam Ming said drafting MDRT curriculum of Myanmar Disaster Response Team in cooperation with the AHA center and the Department of Disaster Management, further cooperation with the Department of Disaster Management and providing the necessary resources through video conferencing.
The training will be opened till 4th February. After that, the Union Minister attended the National Level Committee Meeting on prevention and response to sexual violence in conflict (1/2023) at the Ministry. At the meeting, the Union Minister explained about implementing tasks during one year, formation of the National level committe office, informing to public for the ways to complaint sexual violence cases and hotline number, opening capacity building training for the staff and drafting the report of national level project.
