Rural Development: Agricultural inputs provided to farmers in Bago Region

Deputy Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myint Soe attended a ceremony to provide agricultural inputs to the bean growers in Kawa Township of Bago Region on December 30th.

Officials reported on cultivation of green gram and summer paddy and estimated plans for agriculture works in each cultivation season. The Deputy Minister said the bean growers will be provided with the fertilizers and insecticides worth 120,000 kyats per acre from the State Economic Promotion Fund.

The assistance aims for the farmers to enjoy boosting their yeilds and socio-economic development. He urged bean growers to make their strenuous efforts in the time of summer paddy cultivation season.

He added that the ministry will provide assistance for increase incomes of rural people, job creation, poverty reduction, narrowing the development gap between urban and rural areas, construction the production roads at the villages that involve in the agriculture projects of the state, providing irrigated water and other regional development works.

During the ceremony, fertilizers and insecticides were provided for over 8,600 farmers which cover over 67,000 acres of green gram plantations. 

Later in the day, the Deputy Minister attended the similar ceremony in Yedashe Township, and presented paddy species and inputs to the summer paddy growers. A total of 3,600 bags of fertilizers were provided for 387 farmers which cover 1,800 acres summer paddy.
