Illegal trade: Timbers, industrial materials, vehicles seized

A combined team under the supervision of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force captured car parts without official documents from an Isuzu car at the Shwethanlwin tollgate on 20 December.

In addition, officials nabbed a total of 18.86 tonnes of illegal teak and hardwood in Toungoo. On 22 December, an on-duty team confiscated 50 kilogrammes of concentrated acid for rubber without official documents from a golden dragon mini-bus at the Pauktine bridge checkpoint on Myeik-dawei Road.

An unregistered Toyota Wish and an unregistered Honda fit were seized at the Pyinwa combined checkpoint in Ngaphe Township and an unregistered Subaru Sambar TT2 car was seized in Magway Township. Similarly, a total of 1.50 tonnes of illegal sawn teak was captured in Thayet Township.

On 23 December, the on-duty teams confiscated an unregistered Toyota Dyna car in Kanbalu Township, a total of 35.12 tonnes of illegal timbers in Katha Township and a total of 2.94 tonnes of illegal timbers on the Tamu-Chaungzon Road.

Therefore, 13 arrests (estimated value of 83.887 million Kyats) were made on 20, 22 and 23 December, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
