Chairman of the Anti-Terrorism Central Committee Member of State Administration Council [SAC] Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Soe Htut addressed the Committee’s meeting 1/2022 on Friday.

In his address, the Union Minister stressed that the extremist terrorist group ARSA is an organization that is threatening the people in the northern part of Rakhine state with the intention of taking over territory on the basis of ethnicity and religion.

The terrorist group CRPH/NUG and PDFs organized under various names of its affiliates are organizations that, despite proclaiming the cause of democracy, undermine the mechanisms of government administration, brutally kill people and threaten them with violence, and seek to obtain state power unjustly in order to gain their support.

As the purpose is different, the form of violence and the form of threatening innocent people are different. The Union Minister also stressed the importance of strengthening, prevention and suppression processes, to further promote safety and law enforcement for the people and capacity building of security forces.

And, attendees made discussions on matters including anti-terrorism measures, recommendations, international cooperation, security and information gathering collaborations, diplomatic measures against expatriate terrorists and fight against fake news.

In his response to the discussions, the Union Minister highlighted preventive measures against possible terrorist situations in 2023, arrangements for effective security and law enforcement, effective use of the anti-terrorism fund and reformation of work committees and work groups.
