Short-term colouring : Child labour elimination and job creation

Since the 20th of December, the short-term colouring training is underway at Saunder Weaving and Vocational Institute in Amarapura Township of Mandalay Region. The training is conducted with the aim of preserving the traditional colouring and to create more job opportunities.    

The training is one of the courses relating to weaving at the Institute and this is the 5th one during 2022-2023 fiscal year.  The natural colouring training is jointly conducted with the Mandalay Region Committee on Elimination of Child Labour Creation of Job Opportunities. The short-term training covers natural colouring and basic sewing courses. The Institute also offers advanced sewing course in cooperation with the Department of Rural Development.

Deputy Principal of the Institute explained that this short-term colouring training joined by 20 trainees is added with making designs on clothes by using leaves, flowers and plants lesson. In early January next year, in cooperating with the Department of Social Welfare, textile and printing training course will be conducted.
