China launches Covid vaccination campaign for elderly

China launched a vaccination campaign on Wednesday to encourage high-risk people to get a second booster jab.Xia Gang, director of the department of public health and immunization at the National Administration of Disease Prevention and Control, reported that people over 60, those with serious underlying diseases and those at risk of infection were being encouraged to have the booster.

86.6% of those over 60, and 66.4 per cent of those over 80, have received 2 shots of the coronavirus vaccine, according to Xia.He added that 13 vaccines had been approved for use.
