




In Yangon, a total of 116 YBS bus lines with over 3,200 are providing transportation services daily to over 1 million passengers. Therefore, CCTV cameras installing plans are underway in the YBS buses to provide convenience, security and safety for the commuters and to prevent from the pickpocketing and robbery while taking the buses.
Lyan Cin Mang, Joint Secretary, YGN Region Public Transport Committee, said " CCTV cameras are being installed to monitor the number of passengers in the buses through control centre and the rapid response can be given when the accidences are happened. There are 20 YBS companies in Yangon, among them; the buses from 15 companies have been completed installing CCTV cameras."
The Joint Secretary of the YGN Region Public Transport Committee also added that CCTV cameras installing processes are being implemented for other lasting buses from 5 companies according to the instruction of the Yangon Region Government.
Soe Myint Kyaw, Assistant General Manager, YUPT, said " CCTV cameras have been installed in a total of 696 buses under the Yangon Urban Public Transportation Public Co., Ltd and 5 CCTV cameras are installed per bus. The staffs from the control centre are monitoring 24 hours to the buses and taking records."
The daily running YBS buses are being monitored through control centre and the implementations are prepared to help on time if the emergency cases happen. Likewise, there is a panic button in every bus and as the bus drivers, they can inform the emergency cases in the buses to the control center, it’s learnt.
