Banking Sector: Governor attends scholarship awarding, receives delegation

The Bank of China Scholarship Award Ceremony was organized by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Yangon Branch and China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA) on Friday.

The event in Yangon was attended by Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) Governor Daw Than Than Swe, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Chen Hai, the Commercial Attaché and officials from the Ministry of Education, University of Yangon and Bank of China (Hong Kong) Yangon Branch.

There, the CBM governor expressed words of thanks to the Bank of China for its support in the education, social and economic sectors in addition to the banking sector of the country. She also said such cooperation between the two governments is an effective support to ensure Myanmar’s long-time friendship with China and will create a win-win situation.

This Ceremony concluded with awarding procedures. On the same day, the CBM governor received a delegation led by President of the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM) Mr. Nuttaphong Visitkitchan at the CBM office (Yangon) and discussed investment of Thais in Myanmar and the use of Thai Baht and Myanmar Kyat for border trade.

This meeting was also joined online by payment officer of the Bank of Thailand, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and joint secretary of the Central Committee on Ensuring Smooth Flow of Trade and Goods.
