








According to the plan of implementation of joint projects between Russia and Myanmar, in order to generate power from all available energy sources and to attract domestic/foreign investments, officials from the Ministry of Electric Power and the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation “ROSATOM” visited the project sites in Nay Pyi Taw Council area on Friday.
First, they conducted study of rock mechanics for thermal energy projects, water availability status, earthquakes and faults conditions, transportation routes, environmental conditions and social living conditions in Ziyine Village, Thitaw Village-tract and NgaThaeSu Village in Zeyathiri Township as well as the land near the Paunglaung Dam.
They also studied the situation of water inflow into the dam, the dam construction and the height of the dam which can have effects on selection of the location of the project. They also observed a possible small-scale hydropower project site in order to use the water produced by the Paunglaung Hydropower Plant.
After the study, they met with Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han and discussed results, earthquake and fault conditions of the target project areas and the possible small-scale hydropower project.
