




Chairman of Myanmar Consumer Protection Commission (MCPC), Union Minister for Commerce U Aung Naing Oo addressed the work coordination meeting (1/2022) of the Commission at the Ministry on 9th December.
In his speech, the Union Minister said that as the rights of consumers have expanded, the responsibilities to be followed by consumers have broadened.
The Commission needs to carry out the consumer awareness as a priority task and the Consumer Affairs Committees have been formed in the Union Territory, regions and states.
According to the law, the rights are granted to the committees and the committees need to carry out effectively for consumer affairs.Currently, Myanmar is taking over the role of alternate chair of the ASEAN Consumer Protection Committee in 2022.
Members of the Committee are urged to discuss the plans that should be carried out for the consumer affairs and interest including consumer awareness.
Later, officials reported on progress of works on the decisions of the previous meeting and consumer complaints. In response to the reports, the Commission Chair,Vice Chair and commission members adopted resolutions.
