






A celebration for the International Anti-Corruption Day was held at Myanmar International Convention Center – 1 in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony and made a speech, saying that it is important to decrease the cases of corruption that could damage the development and stability of the state.
The Government has enacted Anti-Corruption Law in August 2013, and effective actions have been made to prevent the corruption cases. The Prime Minister called on the participation of all entire nation in eradication of corruption as a national duty.
He also stressed the emergence of a culture that didn’t accept the corruption, so also the needs to prioritize the educative and preventive measures for bribery. Moreover, the Anti-Corruption Strategic Plan (2022-2025) was drafted to implement preventive measures, education programmes and investigations.
In line with the strategic plan, the Corruption Prevention Units – CPUs have been formed at the respective ministries, organizations and region/ state governments. In addition, the Public Feedback Programme - PFP is being implemented for effective prevention of the micro-corruption.
The Edu-tainment programs are also carried out at the basic education schools to spread the culture of anti-corruption society. The Prime Minister urged for all-inclusiveness of the concerned persons since it is related with the state service personnel, public service personnel and the people.
Union Chief Justice U Tun Tun Oo and Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission U Than Swe later explained the work undertakings.
It was followed by the screening of video clip on International Anti-Corruption Day. The Prime Minister and party later viewed the documentary photos displayed there. Myanmar rectified the UN Convention against Corruption in 2005, and became the 165th member in 2012.
The country agreed and signed the stipulations and ethics laid down by the convention and cooperative efforts are being made with other member countries. 9th December has been designated as the International Anti-Corruption Day and member countries across the world celebrate the commemorative ceremonies annually. Myanmar started celebrating the commemoration ceremony in 2017.
