Russia / Myanmar: 3rd Session of Trade and Economic Cooperation

The 3rd Session of the Intergovernmental Russia-Myanmar Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation took place on Monday at the Myanmar International Convention Center II in Nay Pyi Taw.

The session began with opening speeches by Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. KanZaw and Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Mr. Maxim Reshetnikov.

The two sides exchanged views on the current status of Russia-Myanmar cooperation, agreements, strengthening of people-to-people relations, trade, business, investment cooperation, industry sector cooperation and cooperation between banks.

The discussions are implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Russia-Myanmar Economic Cooperation. During the session, 7 contracts were signed and exchanged by relevant officials from the Myanmar side and the Russian side.

Also, on the same day, the Russia-Myanmar Economic Forum Plenary Meeting was held. There, the Union Minister said that the year of 2022 is an important year for Russia-Myanmar bilateral relations. He also expressed his hope that during the visit of the Russian delegation, they would be able to better understand and view the economic opportunities in Myanmar.

This Russia-Myanmar Economic Forum Plenary Meeting was attended by over 300 Myanmar and Russian entrepreneurs. Also, discussions were held on industry, agriculture, energy, mineral industry, banking and financial sector, information and digital technology and pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing sector. These discussions were joined by over 300 Myanmar and Russian companies.
