Violence against women and girl: 16-days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

With the motto,“Unite! Activism to end violence against women and girls”, a ceremony to mark 16-days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence was held at the Shan State Government Office in Taunggyi, Monday.

At the ceremony, Shan State Chief Minister Dr Kyaw Tun said that the state’s Department of Social Welfare is providing service for women victims of violence by openingOne Stop Women Support Center (OSWSC) in Lashio. He said that all departments and social organizations must cooperate in order to provide essential services for victims of gender-based violence in line with this year theme.

Later, the wife of the State Chief Minister patron of Shan State Women Affairs Organization and the Maternal and Child Welfare Supervisory Committee Dr Khin Khin Htoo extended greetings. Officials then reported on the processes of eliminating violence against women and general affairs.

On the same day, the Chief Minister also attended a clarification on banking service of Shan State Bank branch at the State Government office in Taunggyi. At the event, officials reported on implementation of banking services and made discussion with attendees.
