Agriculture Sector: Bank makes explanation to Shan State Government

The Shan State Branch of Myanma Agricultural Development Bank made an explanation to the Shan State Government on Monday at the state government office in Taunggyi.

The explanation included banking process and general discussions. In his response, State Chief Minister Dr. Kyaw Tun expressed words of thanks to the Shan State Branch of Myanma Agricultural Development Bank for disbursing 20.83 billion Kyats worth loans to farmers and growers in 28 townships of the state.

The Shan State Government is working closely with concerned officials to collect and settle the remaining arrears as soon as possible. Due to security difficulties in some areas, the loans have not yet been fully collected.

The Chief Minister requested the Myanma Agricultural Development Bank to provide more loans for agricultural expenses in order to provide more support to rural farmers and growers. If coffee and tea growers will be provided with loans for necessary agricultural equipment, the economy in the state will improve, the Chief Minister added.
