Rice and Broken Rice Export: Over 900,000 tons exported to foreign markets

According to the provisional statistics of 2022-2023 Fiscal Year, more than 900,000 tons of rice and broken rice were exported to foreign markets.

The export of rice and broken rice via sea route earned 265.107 million USD and over 50 million USD via border trade.  

Min Aung Aye, Director, Department of Trade, said " So far during this fiscal year, over 940,000 tons of rice and broken rice were exported via sea routes and border gates – it earned 315.99 million USD.  To China and the Philippines, the export volume was 230,000 tons - about 39,000 tons each to Italy and Spain and about 31,000 to Belgium. We allow not only local companies and but also foreign companies to export rice and broken rice."

The domestic production will increase if the export of rice and broken rice accelerates. Depending on the availability of the foreign market, agricultural production will improve in the country.
